Palantir Volume 1

After two years of culmination this insignificant collection of drawings and stories is finished. If you like art and stories about super hero trios including Richard Nixon, Timothy Leary, and John Fogerty, then this might be up your alley...

Blind Pig

A couple of years ago when Sonic Tower was getting into their groove, those two members wanted to start a more "conventional" band. This started as some foot tall combo amps and a kids jungle drum, with no sticks (this recording Is in existence, lucky for you). The original sound was tribal and industrial, resembling a dude snorting coke in the dark jungles of a distant planet, but then finding out it was habanero dust instead; all the while smoke billows out of some fucked-up looking smokestack. With the addition of a new bass player, Blind Pig took a more traditional approach on punk, stealing from the likes of: the Stooges, Black Flag, the Clash, the Melvins, and the Stone Poneys... But they retain the elements of heaviness; like in Cactus Hand, a spacey journey into a desert of shittyness. The other songs deal with more general problems, like she-devils and coffee addictions and bank accounts...

#2 Owl

Three brothers wanted to make some heavy music and they did. They hail from Oakland, playing everything from Allman Brothers to Black Flag, and Bluecheer to Bathory.

Here's what somebody else said about Owl:
"The first time I saw Owl was at a bbq in Oakland. The air in the living room smelled like 8 year old boy sweat and brick weed. I thought: oh shit. This is awesome. Of course, there was Clint, where he usually should be, behind his drums. But there were these two other dudes. "His brothers!!", Shane screamed in my ear as a guitar started wailing some crazy ass heavy metal leads and I turned my head to see a little guy with long hair and the biggest smile on his face. Of course, by now I was shrouded and clouded; standing amazed at what was going on before me."

#1 Sonic Tower

Back in June of 2009, two teenagers had a bunch of amps, guitars, weed, machines that make weird noises, and a shared love of Black Sabbath and Sleep. What they did not have were drums, or extensive talent and experience. But this little tape from the feet of the Sierra Nevada does Rock! A jammy ode to an ice witch who encased the earth in frost, a tripped-out song that conjures visions of giant mushrooms, a psychedelic burnout from space, and an epic tale of a space traveling, bong ripping, guitar riffing Wizard (Matt Pike?) all await on this little piece of teenage stoner noise.
